Sculpt

The oscillator's other half. Patch any oscillator into IN, a gate into GATE, and Sculpt turns a raw tone into a played note: drive → filter → VCA, with two envelopes — one shaping the filter, one shaping the loudness — both fired by the same gate. The display shows the filter curve breathing with the envelope in real time.

How it works

One gate starts both ADSRs together. The filter envelope sweeps the cutoff by the bipolar Env amount (negative = reverse sweeps); the amp envelope drives the VCA. Both envelopes also appear at the FENV and AENV jacks as 0–10 V CV — so the same gate that shapes this voice can open a wavetable's morph position, push a delay send, or animate anything else in the patch.

Controls

  • Mode — LP 12dB (smooth), LP 24dB (thicker, classic), BP, HP.
  • Cutoff / Res — where the filter sits and how much it rings. You can

also drag the display: left-right = cutoff, up-down = resonance.

  • Drive — input gain into a soft clipper ahead of the filter. This is

where the warmth lives; generous drive + LP24 + resonance = instant analog.

  • Env — how far the filter envelope sweeps the cutoff (± about 7

octaves at full). Negative amounts sweep downward.

  • Cut CV — attenuverter for the CUT input (1 V/oct at full).
  • Track — key tracking: the cutoff follows the V/OCT input, so high

notes stay as bright as low ones (100% = 1:1).

  • Filter Env / Amp Env — Attack, Decay, Sustain, Release each

(1 ms–10 s, exponential curves).

  • Level — output volume after the VCA.

Inputs & outputs

  • IN L / IN R — the sound to shape. Mono? Just use L. Patch a stereo

pair (the Wavetable's L/R, say) and each side gets its own filter, tracked by the same cutoff and envelopes so the image stays coherent.

  • GATE — fires both envelopes; release begins when it falls.
  • CUT — cutoff CV, scaled by Cut CV.
  • V/OCT — pitch CV for key tracking (patch the same CV that drives your

oscillator).

  • VEL — velocity: scales the amp envelope while patched (from MIDI-CV,

for example). Unpatched = full level.

  • OUT L / OUT R — the shaped voice. With stereo in but only L cabled,

the channels fold to mono automatically so nothing goes missing.

  • FENV / AENV — the two envelopes as CV (0–10 V), ready to modulate the

rest of the patch.

Tips

  • The two-cable classic: oscillator → IN, keyboard/Piano Roll gate →

GATE, same pitch CV → your oscillator and → V/OCT here with some Track.

  • FENV → the Wavetable's POS makes the timbre morph and the filter open

on the same articulation — one gate, a completely alive voice.

  • Punchy bass: LP24, Env around +60%, filter Decay short, Sustain low,

amp Sustain high.

  • Reverse-sweep plucks: turn Env negative and raise the Cutoff.
