Scrubber
A sample-position player that lets you point straight at any moment in a sample instead of playing it back at a fixed speed. There's no clock and no transport — the playhead sits wherever you put it, so you drive motion by hand or with CV. Sweep it slowly for time-stretched drones, jab it for stutters, or wobble it with an LFO for warbling, smeared textures.
How it works
Load a sample and the Pos knob picks a point in it from start (0%) to end (100%). Whatever frame that lands on is read out continuously — hold still and you get a frozen, sustained slice of the audio. The two CV inputs add into that position, each through its own depth knob, so modulation moves the playhead in real time. The effective playhead wraps rather than clamps: push past the end and it rolls back around to the start, so cyclic modulation never stalls at the edges. Output is interpolated and stereo.
Controls
- Sample — the audio to scrub through; loaded from your sample library.
- Pos — the playhead's resting position, from the start to the end of the sample.
- Pos CV — how deeply the Pos CV input moves the playhead.
- Off CV — how deeply the Off CV input moves the playhead; a second, independent scan to layer on top.
- Level — output gain.
Inputs & outputs
- Pos CV — the main scan input; patch a ramp, LFO, or envelope to move through the sample.
- Off CV — a second position input that sums with the first, for two-source scanning.
- L / R — the stereo output.
Tips
- A slow ramp into Pos CV plays the sample like tape: sweep gently for a slowed, pitched-down crawl, faster for normal speed, reverse the ramp to run it backwards.
- Patch a tuned oscillator into Pos CV at audio rate and the sample becomes a wavetable; Pos chooses which slice you're scanning.
- Use Off CV for vibrato or drift while Pos CV handles the main sweep — the two add and wrap together.
