Looper
Loads a single sample and loops it continuously at its native pitch, while laying a musical tempo grid over the top. As the playhead sweeps the loop it fires clock pulses on the bar, beat, and 16th-note lines — turning any loop into a tempo-synced clock and trigger source for the rest of your patch.
How it works
This is not a time-stretcher or a beat-detector: the sample always plays back at its recorded rate. You tell the BPM knob the loop's tempo by hand, and the module overlays a 16th-note grid in the sample's own timeline. Whenever the playhead crosses a grid line it emits a 1 ms pulse — every 16th on Subdiv, every fourth one on Beat, every sixteenth on Bar. Because your loop's downbeat rarely sits exactly at frame zero, Nudge slides the whole grid forward or back so the pulses land where the groove actually is.
Controls
- Sample — click to load a loop from the library; it plays immediately and restarts from the top.
- BPM — sets the tempo of the overlaid grid (
40–300). Dial in the loop's real tempo so the pulses stay in time. - Nudge — slides the grid up to ±2 beats to line it up with the loop's downbeat; the waveform display shows the playhead and grid lines so you can align by eye.
- Level — output gain.
Inputs & outputs
- Reset — a gate restarts the loop from the top and re-arms the grid; patch a clock or a manual trigger to lock the loop to your song.
- Out L / Out R — the looping sample, in stereo.
- Bar / Beat / Subdiv — trigger outs that pulse on each bar, beat, and 16th-note line. Drive sequencers, envelopes, or drums in time with the loop.
Tips
- Feed Beat or Subdiv into a sequencer's clock to build new parts that ride the loop's groove without any external master clock.
- If a sequenced part drifts off the downbeat, leave BPM alone and walk Nudge until the Bar pulse hits the "one."
- Patch your transport's reset to Reset so the loop and its grid snap back to the top every time you restart playback.
