Low-Frequency Oscillator (LFO)

A low-frequency oscillator with four shapes — sine, triangle, saw, and square — all running from the same phase and available at once. Use it as a modulation source for filters, amplitude, pitch, or anything that wants slow, steady movement; pushed into its top range it doubles as a rough audio oscillator.

Controls

  • Waveform lane — the live display at the top draws all four shapes over one cycle and shows the true rate in Hz. Drag it left/right to set the rate; double-click to reset.
  • Rate — speed of the cycle, scaled by the selected Range. It mirrors the waveform lane, so the two always agree.
  • Range — the frequency band Rate sweeps: S.Low and Low for glacial drifts, Med for typical modulation, High to climb into audio rates.
  • PW — pulse width of the square output only; the other three shapes ignore it.
  • Depth — output amplitude for all four shapes; fully down silences them.
  • ModeBi swings either side of zero (±5V); Uni rides positive only (0–10V), the right choice when you don't want a destination dipping below its resting value.
  • Attenuverters: Rate, PWM — scale and invert the incoming Rate and PW CV.

Inputs & outputs

  • Rate — CV over the cycle speed; depth and polarity are set by the Rate attenuverter.
  • PW — CV over the square's pulse width, via the PWM attenuverter.
  • Reset — a rising gate snaps the phase back to the start, so the cycle stays locked to your clock or trigger.
  • Sine, Triangle, Saw, Square — the four shapes, output simultaneously. Patch any combination; they share one rate and phase.

Tips

  • Reset on every clock pulse to keep a slow sweep phase-locked to the beat instead of drifting.
  • Modulate PW while taking the square output for a classic pulse-width-modulation shimmer.
  • Switch to Uni mode when modulating something like filter cutoff or level that shouldn't go below its set point.
