Kick Sine

A synthesized bass drum voice. A sine-wave body, a fast downward pitch sweep, and a short noise click combine into a punchy electronic kick — from deep sub thuds to snappy, clicky 909-style hits.

How it works

Each trigger fires three things at once: a sine oscillator that decays exponentially, a pitch envelope that starts the oscillator high and drops it to its base note for that signature "boom," and a brief burst of noise for attack transient. Punch controls how far the pitch sweeps; Click sets how much noise rides on top.

Controls

  • Pitch — the base frequency of the body, roughly 20200 Hz. Low for sub-heavy kicks, higher for toms and tight thumps.
  • Punch — depth of the onset pitch sweep; higher values start the hit further above the base note for more snap and impact.
  • Decay — how long the kick rings out, from a clipped tick to a long sustained boom.
  • Click — level of the short noise transient at the attack, for that beater "tick" that cuts through a mix.

Inputs & outputs

  • Trig — a rising gate fires the kick; patch a clock, sequencer gate, or trigger.
  • Vel — velocity CV scaling level around unity; unpatched it stays at full level, +5V doubles it, -5V silences it.
  • Ptch — 1V/octave pitch CV, added to the Pitch knob for melodic or tuned kicks.
  • Out — the kick signal.

Tips

  • For a classic electronic kick, set a low Pitch with moderate Punch and short-to-medium Decay; add Click to make it cut.
  • Feed Ptch from a sequencer to play tuned kick basslines.
  • Long Decay plus low Pitch gives a sub-bass drop — duck the rest of your mix under it.
