Clock Divider

Slows a clock down by a whole-number factor. Feed it a steady pulse and it fires once every N beats — the simplest way to derive half-time, quarter-time, and slower pulses from a single master clock.

Controls

  • Ratio — how many input pulses pass before one output trigger fires. At 2 you get every other beat, at 4 every fourth, up to 256. Whole numbers only.
  • CV — attenuverter for the Div CV input: how much (and which polarity) a patched CV shifts the Ratio. At 0 the CV input does nothing; dial it up for CV-swept divisions, or negative to invert.

Inputs & outputs

  • Clk — the clock to divide; each rising edge is counted.
  • Rst — realigns the division, zeroing the count so the next output lands on a downbeat you choose.
  • Div CV — modulates the division, added to the Ratio knob through the CV attenuverter (±10 V spans the full 1–256 range at attenuverter 1, so a small attenuverter gives fine, musical control). Sampled on each clock edge.
  • Out — a clean 1ms trigger every Ratio input pulses.

Tips

  • Patch one master clock into several Clock Dividers at different ratios to build a layered polyrhythm from a single tempo.
  • Send your bar trigger into Rst to keep the divided clock phase-locked across long patterns.
