BPM Clock

A tempo clock source. Dial in a BPM, choose a note division, and it pulses steadily — the heartbeat for sequencers, envelopes, and anything that needs to stay in time.

Controls

  • BPM — the master tempo, from 20 to 300 beats per minute.
  • Div — the note value each pulse represents, from 1/1 (one pulse per bar) through 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/16, up to 1/32 (eight pulses per beat). At 1/4 the clock ticks once per displayed beat; every shorter value doubles the rate.

Inputs & outputs

  • BPM (input) — CV summed with the knob, about 28 BPM per volt and clamped to the legal range.
  • RST (input) — a rising edge snaps the clock back to the start of its cycle, re-locking it in phase with whatever fired the trigger.
  • CLK (output) — the main clock pulse: a clean 10 ms trigger at the chosen rate. Send it to the clock inputs across your patch.
  • RST (output) — your reset trigger passed through, re-gated to a full pulse, so several modules can share a single reset.

Tips

  • Patch a slow LFO or envelope into BPM for tape-style speed-ups and slow-downs — the clamp holds it inside 20300 however hard you push.
  • Fire RST at the top of a phrase to re-align the clock with your sequencer, then let it free-run.
