Audio Input
Bring the outside world into your patch. Audio Input captures a live source — a microphone, a guitar or synth through your audio interface, anything your computer hears — and turns it into a signal you can patch anywhere, exactly like an oscillator's output. It's the mirror of the Output module: Output sends the patch to your speakers; Audio Input pulls the world in.
How it works
Pick a device, and its live audio streams straight into the two output jacks. From there it's just another voice in the rack — run it through filters, delays, a reverb, or ring-modulate it against an oscillator. The level meter shows what's coming in so you can set a healthy gain before you patch.
The first time you choose a device your browser asks permission to use it; the choice is saved with your patch. Live input needs a secure (HTTPS) connection and a desktop browser (Chrome, Edge, or Firefox).
Controls
- Device — choose which input to listen to (microphone, line-in, interface).
Opens a picker of everything the browser can see.
- Input —
Clean(default) captures the raw signal, ideal for instruments and
audio interfaces; Processed turns on the browser's automatic gain / noise reduction, which only helps a weak built-in laptop mic. Leave it on Clean for any real interface — the browser's auto-gain tends to crush an interface's level.
- Mode —
Monosums both input channels to a centered signal on both output
jacks, so a source on either channel is heard (handy when a mic is wired to only one input of an interface); Stereo passes the device's left and right channels separately (only meaningful on a true stereo input).
- Gain — makeup gain in
dB(default+12). A clean interface signal often
arrives quiet; turn it up to a healthy level, watching the meter — back off if it hits red.
Inputs & outputs
- L / R (out) — the live captured signal. In Mono both carry the same thing;
in Stereo they carry the left and right channels. Patch them onward like any other source.
Tips
- Monitor on headphones. Echo cancellation is off (you want the true sound, not
a cleaned-up voice-call version), so a mic near your speakers will feed back.
- Try Audio Input → a filter or delay → Output for instant live processing, or feed
it into a Ring Mod or Vocoder-style patch against an oscillator for classic talk-box textures.
